# Your shifts

> See when you're working, and ask a teammate to cover or swap a shift.

<Info>**For your team.** Everyone can see their own shifts.</Info>

The Schedule is where you check when you're working and handle changes to your
own shifts. Open it with **Schedule** in the top row of tabs.

## Find your shifts

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Schedule">
    Click **Schedule** in the top tabs.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go to My shifts">
    Click the **My shifts** tab. You'll see your upcoming shifts for the next
    four weeks, grouped by day, with the time, position, and location for each.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Across the top of the Schedule you'll also see **Open shifts** (extra shifts you
can pick up) and **Availability** (the days and times you can't work). Those have
their own guides — see [Pick up open shifts](/everyday/pick-up-open-shifts) and
[Set your availability](/everyday/set-your-availability).

## Ask someone to cover a shift

Can't make a shift? Ask your team to cover it.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Find the shift">
    On **My shifts**, find the shift you need covered.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Request cover">
    Click **Request cover**. A panel slides up.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Say why">
    Pick a reason (for example, sick), then click **Request cover** again.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Your team is notified that the shift needs someone. The shift now shows
**Cover requested · waiting** until a teammate picks it up. Changed your mind?
Click **Cancel** on that shift.

## Swap a shift with a teammate

A swap offers your shift directly to a specific colleague.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Start a swap">
    On the shift you want to hand off, click **Swap**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose a colleague">
    Pick who you'd like to offer it to, click **Select**, then **Continue**.
    Only teammates who are free to take it appear here.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Take a shift in return (optional)">
    You can take one of their upcoming shifts in exchange, or leave it on
    **Nothing in exchange** to simply give yours away.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send it">
    Click **Send request**. Your colleague gets the offer to accept or decline.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>A shift can be offered for cover **or** for swap — not both at once. Cancel one before starting the other.</Note>

## What if no one's available?

* **Request cover** puts the shift in front of the whole team — give it time for
  someone to pick it up.
* **Swap** only lists colleagues who are free to take the shift. If the list is
  empty, no one's currently available — try Request cover instead, or talk to
  your manager.

## What success looks like

You can see every shift you're scheduled for, and when something comes up you can
hand a shift off — either to the whole team (cover) or to one person (swap) —
without a flurry of texts.

## Next step

Keep your schedule accurate by [setting your availability](/everyday/set-your-availability).
