# Clock in and out

> Start and end your shift in Vera so your hours are recorded.

<Info>**For your team.** If your workplace tracks hours in Vera, you'll clock in and out here.</Info>

Clocking in tells Vera you've started work; clocking out records when you
finished. Your hours add up automatically, so there's no timesheet to fill in by
hand.

## Clock in

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Home">
    Click **Home** in the top tabs.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Clock in">
    Click **Clock in** in the top-right of the page. That's it — you're on the
    clock.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Once you're clocked in, Home shows **Clocked in since** and the time you started,
and your **Hours today** start counting.

## Clock out

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Home">
    Click **Home** in the top tabs.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Clock out">
    Click **Clock out** in the top-right. Your hours for the day are saved.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## If you don't see a Clock in button

Not every workspace tracks hours in Vera, and not every role clocks in. If
there's no **Clock in** button on Home, your workplace handles time a different
way — check with your manager if you're unsure.

## What success looks like

At the start of your shift you clock in, at the end you clock out, and Home shows
your hours for the day building up correctly.
